Florida police add Corvette Z06 seized from a drug dealer to their fleet

Without a doubt, this is going to become the dream come true for Escambia County police officers. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida showed off the latest addition to its fleet a few days ago and it’s a powerful and quite striking C7 Corvette Z06.

Carscoops reported that the Corvette Z06 would be like a new kind of freedom for officers trapped in a Ford Police Interceptor Utility. This new vehicle was seized from a felony suspect and it was later customized, making it one of the most impressive police cars around.

The model is also equipped with red and blue flashing lights, although traffic stops will not be its main activity, as the vehicle will be used for recruitment and community engagement purposes, the Carscoops report explained. They noted that the Sheriff’s Office knew some people would likely oppose this vehicle so, «no taxpayer dollars were used to fund it.»

The Sheriff’s Office explained, «the new wrap and the updates were financed by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Foundation,» which is a non-profit organization that aims to support the employees of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office as well as encourage community involvement and promote public safety.

The sports car belonged to local drug dealers

NorthEscambia.com explained that the 2016 Corvette Z06 was confiscated from «local drug dealers» and its exterior image depicts «iconic local scenes, including Don Tristan de Luna and the Blue Angels landing on Pensacola Beach.»

However, the model is most notable for having a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that generates 650 hp (485 kW / 659 PS) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. This particular car appears to have a seven-speed manual transmission that allows the model to shoot from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 km/h) in 3.2 seconds when equipped with the optional Z07 package, Carscoops said.

A supercar
