Christian Nodal opened up and spoke—for the first time in such detail—about how he began feeling attracted to Ángela Aguilar when she was still a teenager.

In an interview published on May 12 on comedian Mike Salazar’s YouTube channel, as reported by Univisión, the singer from Sonora recounted how he met the woman who is now his wife, and how that early connection eventually led to marriage years later.

“It’s really bad for me to say this, brother…,” Nodal began, aware that his words might spark controversy.

He recalled that in 2018, he shared the stage with the Aguilar family during the “Jaripeo Sin Fronteras” tour, headlined by Pepe Aguilar.

That’s when he first saw Ángela.

“When I met Ángela I said, ‘Wow, she’s incredibly talented,’ and I was 18, but she was much younger,” he recounted.

Although now, at 26 and 21 respectively, the age difference seems smaller, the “Adiós Amor” singer admitted that back then, “it was kind of weird.”

Nonetheless, Nodal insists that his attraction to Ángela never crossed a line, as he always saw her with admiration and respect.

Attraction and Respect from the Start

“I’d look at her and think, ‘so talented,’ she was so beautiful, and yeah, she was gorgeous and all,” he said frankly.

He even admitted he got nervous every time they ended up in the same space backstage or during press events.

“I always got nervous when we shared a space,” he added.

At that time, without his knowledge, Pepe Aguilar had set rules to keep them apart.

From Duet to Marriage

“My father-in-law had… I didn’t know this, but there was a rule that we couldn’t be in the same place and that the dressing rooms were set up on opposite sides so we wouldn’t run into each other,” he explained.

Nodal said that distance kept things from going further at the time.

However, the attraction remained, although he disguised it with professional excuses.

“I tried to pass it off as ‘oh, it’s her talent, I want to work with her,’” he admitted.

Love Confirmed in 2024

That desire to collaborate led to “Dime Cómo Quieres,” a song they co-wrote and released in November 2020.

At that time, Nodal was in a public relationship with Belinda.

His story with Ángela, however, was far from over.

In June 2024, after his breakup with Argentine rapper Cazzu—the mother of his daughter Inti—Nodal and Ángela confirmed they were a couple.

A Paused and Rekindled Love Story

The announcement triggered a wave of reactions from fans and the media, who speculated about the timeline and possible infidelity.

Ángela Aguilar, for her part, wanted to make it clear that this wasn’t a sudden romance.

“It’s not a new relationship. It’s the continuation of a story that life made us pause so we could grow and miss each other,” she told Hola! Américas magazine.

She added a phrase that touched many: “When we let each other go, coming back made us more ourselves.”

For his part, Christian Nodal firmly denied any cheating on Cazzu.

“There was never any infidelity. Sometimes love just doesn’t work out,” he clarified.

One month after confirming their relationship, the couple got married.

The wedding was held on July 24, 2024, at Hacienda San Gabriel de las Palmas in the state of Morelos, Mexico.
