Gossip Girl actress, Chanel Maya Banks, has mysteriously disappeared in Los Angeles, and her family accuses her husband of not cooperating in the search.

The 36-year-old actress was last seen on October 30, when she texted her cousin Danielle-Tori Singh, who is now collaborating with the police and has started a fundraiser for her return.

Relatives, including her mother, Judy Singh, have traveled to California to assist in the search, after Chanel’s husband allegedly stated that «she does not want to be found» and removed missing person posters.

Banks lived in an apartment in Playa Vista with her husband, to whom she has been married for a year. However, her family had not heard from her for weeks.

Family Concerned Over Chanel Maya Banks’ Absence and Left Behind Belongings

Upon entering the apartment, they found Banks’ belongings, including her emotional support dog and her car, though her phone and laptop were not found.

The family’s concern grew with no news from the actress, who usually kept in touch. «Five days without news from my cousin are red flags and alarm bells,» Singh told ABC7 News.

«Chanel never goes more than 48 hours without talking to me or her mom… She’s like a big sister to me,» added Singh.

The last time Singh heard from Chanel was through a text message on October 30. She saw her via video call three days earlier, on October 27.

Danielle has posted flyers in her cousin’s neighborhood, but noted that Chanel’s husband has been uncooperative with both the family and the police.

«Her husband is extremely suspicious,» Singh told ABC7. «He is unwilling to help the Los Angeles police, me, or her mother. He is removing flyers from posts and cars.»

The Los Angeles police have conducted four wellness checks at the home this month, but Banks was not present on any occasion.

Inside the apartment, the family found Chanel Maya Banks’ dog, which is unusual since the actress «goes nowhere without her dog.»

«The dog is always by her side as emotional support,» explained her cousin.

Banks married in November last year and shared a video of the wedding on her TikTok account. Her last social media activity was in September.

Danielle told ABC7 that Chanel had been moving away from acting to focus on writing.

«I feel it in my soul, in my stomach, that something is not right… We are crossing two weeks without a word, without a sound. Nothing.»

Banks, also known as Chanel Farrell, moved to Los Angeles ten years ago to pursue an acting career, with appearances in Gossip Girl, Blue Bloods, Suits, and the movie Twelve.

Danielle expressed to KTLA 5: «The last text message we received from her before her phone went off was on October 30. I’m not leaving California until I find my cousin.»

She came from Toronto to help in the search, while Chanel Maya Banks’ mother traveled from New York.

Upon confirming that Banks’ phone was off and that her dog and car were still in the apartment, Danielle immediately contacted the police.

Family and Police Intensify Search for Chanel Maya Banks

Investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that they are working on the case and have conducted several wellness checks.

In an emotional message, Danielle said to Chanel: «We love you so much. We just want to know that you are okay and that you are safe and that no one has done anything to you.»

Chanel Maya Banks’ mother, Judy, asked for prayers and told KTLA: «Pray for my daughter because right now, we don’t know exactly what has happened.»

«We’ve heard things here and there, people saying this and that, but I know that’s not my daughter.»

The family has created a GoFundMe page to cover the costs of a private investigator and their stay in Los Angeles.

Danielle explained on the page description that Chanel Maya Banks «has been married for just over a year, and her husband is not cooperating with the police.»

On Sunday, November 10, Danielle and Judy entered the apartment and noticed that «all her belongings are still there,» except for her laptop and phone.

«She NEVER goes anywhere without telling her mom or me. We noticed on November 10 that her husband has a split lip and marks and scratches on his neck and arms.»

Husband of Chanel Maya Banks Under Suspicion, But No Charges

Danielle added that on November 10, the police photographed the husband’s injuries, which he did not have two days before during the last wellness check.

«We asked him where Chanel is, and all he keeps saying is that ‘she doesn’t want to be found, she’ll get in touch when she’s ready.'»

«He claims he doesn’t know where she is, says he hasn’t seen or heard from her since November 7, but he never called the police to report her missing.»

However, Danielle noted that the police do not suspect her husband of «foul play» and told the family that «he has committed no crime by withholding information.»

«They can’t do anything until they have evidence or probable cause to arrest him.»

Finally, she wrote: «Chanel has no family or friends here and NEVER goes anywhere without telling her mom. Please help us find my cousin.»

As of now, the GoFundMe campaign for Chanel Maya Banks has raised approximately $3,000 of a $20,000 goal.
