After being handed over by the Mexican authorities, Baldomero Samayoa Recinos was transported by air to the Guatemalan Air Force and subsequently taken to the Torre de Tribunales in Guatemala City, where he will face his judicial process.
Upon arrival, the detainee told EFE that he is «calm» and that he «prefers being detained rather than having run into any other type of bad luck as happens in this kind of life.»
When asked about the U.S. extradition request on drug trafficking charges, Samayoa responded, «The United States is doing its job, and I did mine,» and assured that he will accept the charges imputed.
‘Los Huistas,’ a criminal organization from Huehuetenango in northern Guatemala, is noted for its involvement in cocaine trafficking and its connections with the Sinaloa and Jalisco New Generation cartels.
