A bus accident on Interstate 20 in Warren County, Mississippi, resulted in seven fatalities and about thirty injuries.
Authorities have confirmed that the deceased are of Mexican origin. The accident occurred on Saturday when a tire failure caused the bus to overturn.
The bus, a 2018 Volvo traveling from Atlanta to Dallas, was carrying 41 passengers, along with a driver and a co-driver.
According to Todd Inman, an official with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the accident happened after the left front tire failed. The bus then overturned onto its left side shortly after the malfunction.

The investigation is being led by the NTSB, which is collecting evidence and reviewing the bus’s condition, the state of the road at the time of the accident, the transport company’s safety record, and onboard safety measures.
Preliminary results of the investigation are expected in about 30 days.
The bus operator, Autobuses Regiomontanos, has 20 years of experience in cross-border transportation between Mexico and the United States.
Their website claims that their fleet receives daily maintenance and offers special rates for workers.

In the accident, six people were pronounced dead at the scene, and one more died at the hospital.
Of the 37 injured, some are receiving care in various hospitals.
Among the deceased are a 6-year-old boy and his 16-year-old sister, identified by their mother, according to Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey.
The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Alicia Bárcena, confirmed that the seven fatalities were of Mexican origin.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the seven people of Mexican origin who sadly died in a bus accident in Mississippi. We reiterate our commitment to providing all necessary assistance from the @ConsulmexNUO,” Bárcena wrote on the social network X.
A Tragic Accident in Mississippi with a Deadly Toll
Initially, it was reported that four of the deceased were Mexican, but an update revealed that the other three victims were also Mexican.
The Mexican Consulate in New Orleans has confirmed that 17 Mexican nationals were on board the bus.
