The bill sets a deadline of nine months to a year for ByteDance to sell TikTok or face a nationwide ban.

This is part of a foreign aid package of $95 billion destined for countries such as Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan.

Biden pointed out how arduous it was to get the legislation to his desk, saying,»It was a difficult path.»

He added that «it should have been easier and it should have come sooner. But in the end, we did what America always does: we rose to the moment, came together and we got it done.»

TikTok has expressed its intention to legally challenge the bill, as some say it’s a violation of the First Amendment.

This larger bill comes at a time when the Biden administration has been urgently seeking funding to help Ukraine confront the Russian invasion, according to The Associated Press.

Despite the allocation of these funds, it is expected to take some time for Ukraine to recover from the months it has gone without help from the U.S.

Biden announced that the initial transfer of military aid to Ukraine will begin quickly, including an allocation of some $61 billion to strengthen the defense capabilities of the country.
