U.S. President, Joe Biden, sparked controversy by celebrating Transgender Visibility Day on Easter Sunday.

Through a statement, the president announced that March 31, is officially Transgender Day of Visibility.

It didn’t take long for criticism to surface on social media, including from transgender celebrity Caitlyn Jenner.

Biden celebrates Transgender Day of Visibility

According to The Associated Press, the White House proclaimed March 31 Transgender Day of Visibility, which happened to fall on Easter this year.

The White House stated they aim to «reaffirm our Nation’s commitment to forming a more perfect Union — where all people are created equal and treated equally throughout their lives.»

Moreover, the statement also highlights that transgender Americans are part of the nation’s fabric.

«They deserve, and are entitled to, the same rights and freedoms as every other American, including the most fundamental freedom to be their true selves.»

Some criticize Biden’s move

President Biden called on all Americans to «join us in lifting up the lives and voices of transgender people throughout our Nation.»

He added we should «work toward eliminating violence and discrimination based on gender identity.»

One of the most shared critiques of this stance was posted by the editor of The American Tribune on his official X account.

Meanwhile, transgender celebrity Caitlyn Jenner also weighed in on Transgender Day of Visibility.

The former athlete said on her X account that she was absolutely disgusted with Joe Biden.

«The only thing you should declare on this day is ‘He is risen,'» wrote the Olympic medalist.

However, she received significant backlash over her comment.

Donald Trump’s team also attacked Biden

Trump’s team attacked Biden for declaring March 31 Transgender Day of Visibility.

Specifically, they accused the U.S. President, who is Catholic, of being insensitive to religion.

«We call on Joe Biden’s failing campaign and White House to issue an apology to the millions of Catholics and Christians across America.»

Karoline Leavitt, press secretary for Trump’s campaign team, described this decision as «years-long assault on the Christian faith.»

Karina Yapor, a journalist who was a victim of the Trevi-Andrade clan, also reacted to Biden’s decision to declare March 31 as Transgender Day of Visibility.

She shared an image of the statement on Instagram.

Her followers reacted in various ways, as some supported the U.S. President’s initiative, while others simply did not.
