BREAKING NEWS: Authorities find the girl María Gómez Pérez alive

Finally some good news for the Hispanic girl María Gómez Pérez.

Investigators from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CBI) located and recovered María Gómez Pérez alive.

According to a statement on the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page , the Gainesville resident girl was found safe and healthy the night of Thursday, July 25, in another state.

«Maria is safe and in good condition,» the statement said.

“The tireless work of our CBI, law enforcement partners and the community has resulted in the best possible outcome,” said Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch.

«Our prayers for Maria’s safe return have been answered,» Sheriff Couch added.

Investigators are working to bring Maria back to Hall County, while continuing efforts to determine the circumstances of her disappearance.

Maria, 12, had been missing since May 29, 2024, when she was last seen at her home on Westside Drive.

No further updates on the Guatemalan girl’s recovery are expected tonight.

The search had spread to several states, including Illinois and Texas.

Maria was reported missing on May 29, a day after she was last seen in the driveway of her home.

Her family and the community have conducted extensive search efforts since then.

During the month of July a new sign was displayed to help bring her back home.

The July 12 update indicated that searches have been conducted in Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

«Video footage and other media led HCSO to work closely with jurisdictions in those states»

Unfortunately, she is still missing,” the update said.

Sheriff Gerald Couch had said at the time that although tips had diminished, the Sheriff’s Office remained determined to bring her home.

The publication indicated that the evidence collected from searches and digital evidence «has provided hope for a breakthrough in the case.

He also mentioned that scammers have tried to take advantage of this incident using social networks.
