Antología del Folklore musicians die after falling off a cliff in a road acident

The world of music is in mourning as a tragic road accident has claimed the lives of at least seven people.
The interprovincial bus with license plate BOF-958, transporting members of the ‘Antología del Folklore’ orchestra, suffered a devastating accident.
It is noteworthy that the vehicle carrying the musicians was traveling from Oxapampa to the city of Lima, Peru.
The incident occurred in the Cochas Bajo sector, near the city of Tarma, in the Junín region.

According to local press reports, the incident occurred around 4:30 AM on Monday, July 22.
At kilometer 20 of the Central Highway, the bus carrying the Antología del Folklore members veered off the road and plunged into a ravine approximately 200 meters deep.

Some passengers died instantly, crushed by the vehicle. So far, it has been confirmed that ten passengers were injured in the incident.
The injured were urgently transported to the Felix Mayorca Soto Hospital in Tarma, where they are being treated.
Unfortunately, eight of the nine Antología del Folklore orchestra members died at the scene of the accident.
One of the injured later died in the trauma shock unit of the hospital, according to Infobae.
Luis Fernando Correa, director of the Felix Mayorca Soto Hospital, commented on the situation to Canal N.
Correa stated that the condition of the injured is being assessed to determine if they need to be transferred to more advanced hospitals.
According to Johnny Rolando, head of the Highway Police, in a conversation with RPP:
«The police are performing very delicate rescue maneuvers to assist the injured and deceased… The National Police is conducting constant awareness operations. It’s the only thing we can do in these high-impact accidents.»
The PNP representative also indicated that incidents such as the pne suffered by Antología del Folklore on Peru’s roads often occur in the early morning hours.
«This is the third time. In Ayacucho, we had two incidents with many fatalities. So, we need to recommend to companies that they instruct drivers to either take a rest at these hours or avoid driving during this time.»
