Actress Angélica Vale has spoken out against the derogatory comments made about Puerto Rico by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe during a campaign rally for former president Donald Trump, where he referred to the island as a “floating trash.”

Vale joined the wave of criticism and accusations of racism that have emerged following this incident.

In an interview for the program Sale el Sol, the daughter of Angélica María and Raúl Vale shared her personal experience with discrimination in the United States.

She recalled moments when she has been judged for her heritage, mentioning that she’s been questioned for sitting in first class on a plane: “People look at you with a face like, ‘And her? Why is she in first class?’”

Angélica Vale called on Latinos in the U.S. to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections.

“All of us Latinos who can vote here, no matter where we’re from, we have to go out and vote so that we are respected,” she emphasized.

The star of La fea más bella also expressed solidarity with the Puerto Rican community, stating, “I’m Mexican, but at that moment, I felt Puerto Rican. I just finished filming a movie in Puerto Rico, and it made me very angry to hear those taunts and see the laughter of Latinos present at the event.”

Vale concluded her statement by highlighting the importance of instilling pride and respect for her Mexican heritage in her children.
