In August 2024, Jaramillo shocked her followers by publicly confessing her addiction in a video she posted on social media.

“I’ve been using drugs for years,” she admitted on Instagram.

Her sister, Laura Jaramillo, recently shared more updates about the actress’s situation, explaining the family’s decision to make this process public.

“Well, I can now tell you, we’ve decided to make you all part of this because my sister, at the time, decided to make her struggles public,” Laura Jaramillo began.

“There were people constantly sending supportive messages, words of encouragement, saying their hearts were with us. So, I think you deserve to be part of this process,” Laura continued.

She explained that the decision to admit Angélica to rehab wasn’t easy and shared how they reached that point.

“Our real reason for coming to Medellín wasn’t for a vacation. It was to bring my sister to a rehabilitation center. No matter how hard we tried to start the process as a family, it was impossible to help Angélica.»

“She didn’t let us help her, and after the situation became public, instead of improving, it got worse,” she said, visibly emotional.

Angélica Jaramillo’s sister added, “It was a very hard decision, but also the greatest act of love we’ve ever made.
