- Gloria Trevi longed for a ‘normal’ family.
- Sergio Andrade aspired to be God.
In addition to the series Ellas Soy Yo, Gloria Trevi, Mary Boquitas’ podcast, En Boca Cerrada, has been generating quite a buzz.
In its latest episode, titled ‘Two Escape Attempts and an Unexpected Death’, the singer talks about Ana Dalay’s baptism.
To this day, it is said that the young daughter of Gloria Trevi and music producer Sergio Andrade died from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
However, it seems that both the series and this podcast will shed more light on this terrible tragedy.
What happened?
In mid-October 1999, Ana Dalay was born at Miguel Cuoto Municipal Hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
No one could have foreseen what would happen two months later. The lives of Gloria Trevi and the other girls in the Trevi-Andrade clan would change forever.
Mary Boquitas revealed in her podcast that Sergio Andrade seemed just as happy as when he married Aline Hernández.
A few days later, the singer came home with «the tiniest and most precious baby in the world in her arms.»
The scandal was in full swing
It’s worth noting that at that time, Gloria Trevi, Sergio Andrade and Mary Boquitas were all wanted by the law.
Karina Yapor, who had already given birth to another child by the music producer, was the only clan member who was still a minor.
Amid this scandal, Gloria was overjoyed with Ana Dalay: «She had eyes only for her precious baby.»
«I had a feeling that Gloria wished more than ever to create a normal family with Sergio, if the word ‘normal’ had any place in the master’s mind,» Mary said.
Sergio Andrade didn’t want to let go of his ‘harem’
Despite Gloria’s wishes, Mary Boquitas revealed in her podcast that Andrade had no intention of letting go of his harem.
Now, the producer’s ambition, in addition to dominating the music world, was to play the role of a high priest. He «wanted to play God.»
On one occasion, Sergio ordered Mary to take a break from her chores. It was November 1999.
He told her that both he and Gloria Trevi had decided that she would be Ana Dalay’s godmother.
Ana Dalay’s baptism was unusual
Gloria Trevi had pleaded with Sergio Andrade to baptize Ana Dalay, so he gave her permission to go to a church to ask about it.
To her disappointment, it wasn’t possible because the child had not been registered. The reason? Gloria’s passport had expired.
The music producer decided that this would not be a hindrance, and the ceremony would take place in the apartment where they lived at that very moment.
Just like Mary Boquitas’ wedding to Sergio, there was no preparation for this ceremony — no prior notice, no flowers and no guests.
Gloria Trevi was the only one dressed appropriately for the occasion
Seeing that this was serious, Mary Boquitas noticed that, unlike her and the other girls, Gloria was the only one dressed appropriately for Ana Dalay’s baptism.
Ironically, Sergio Andrade said that, being the person with the purest soul of all, he would officiate the ceremony.
«In less than a minute and a half, Ana Dalay was baptized, in Sergio’s words,» Mary said.
The child would be the only one of all the babies to receive this ‘distinction’. TO LISTEN TO THE PODCAST CLICK HERE
