The politician and preacher was devastated when it came out that he had a secret life as a «transgender curvy girl.»

Copeland was married and had three children, so the news of his double life was a shock to the community.

Bubba Copeland killed himself

The small town of Smiths Station was affected by the suicide of F.L. ‘Bubba’ Copeland, a popular Republican politician who became better known after meeting with Donald Trump.

According to the New York Post, Copeland killed himself two days after he was outed in the media.

An article revealed that he described himself online as a  «curvy transgender girl» and published photos of him dressed in women’s clothing.

This incident devastated Copeland, who shot himself around 5 pm on Friday in front of the sheriffs who were following him.

What happened to Bubba Copeland?

Bubba Copeland’s suicide occurred while he was being followed by Smiths Station officers who were conducting a welfare check.

The authorities had been following his vehicle and tried to stop him shortly after he decided to take his life in front of them.

«He exited the vehicle, produced a handgun, and took his own life,» the sheriff’s office said, according to the New York Post.

The Smiths Station mayor had three children and was married. Before dying, he claimed that his wife knew about his double life.

«It’s just a hobby»

Right wing outlet, 1989 News published the exposé on the Bubba Copeland’s secret life.

They found photographs of him on a social media profile that Copeland created where he identified himself as Brittini Blaire Summerlin.

«Just my wife knows. It’s a hobby I do to relieve stress. I have a lot of stress, and I’m not medically transitioning,” Copeland stated.

His online profile stated that he was a transgender woman who was in favor of medical transition, something he later denied.

«It is private»

Copeland told 1989 News, after initially denying that he dressed as a woman, that his alter ego «was a character.»

«It’s just a bit of a character I’m playing. … I don’t go out and seek solicitation or anything like that.»

«It’s something that I don’t intermingle with the other. It’s private. I don’t do it in the public or anything like that. … It’s just a fictional character I made up to relieve stress,» he added.

The images that were made public show the pastor and politician wearing women’s clothing and a wig. He also shared pornography.

Bubba Copeland killed himself: Was he judged by his church?

Before he died, he pointed out that what he did in the privacy of his home had nothing to do with his religious life.

«What I do in private life has nothing to do with what I do in my holy life,» Copeland told 1819 News.

«Does this have any effect on me being mayor, that I sometimes put on a dress or sometimes put on makeup? Does that have anything to do whatsoever with me being mayor or being a pastor» he asked.

Shortly before his death the church classified this behavior as «unbiblical» and Copeland apologized for causing them any embarrassment.
