The entertainment world is in mourning following the death of American actor Ron Ely, best known for his iconic portrayal of ‘Tarzan’ in the NBC television series, which aired from 1966 to 1968.

Ely passed away at the age of 86, his daughter Kirsten confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday.

«The world has lost one of the greatest men it has known, and I have lost my father,» expressed his daughter with deep emotion.

The actor died at home, surrounded by his loved ones, Kirsten detailed, emphasizing the lasting legacy her father left not only in the acting world but also in his personal life.

Ron Ely was not only known for his role as ‘Tarzan,’ but also for his various roles as an actor, writer, coach, and mentor.

«He created a powerful wave of positive influence wherever he went,» Kirsten stated, describing the impact her father had on those who knew him.

The actor rose to fame in the 1960s when he landed the lead role in the television series ‘Tarzan,’ which gave him international recognition.

Later, in 1975, he returned to the big screen to star in ‘Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze,’ a Universal production.

Throughout his career, Ely also appeared as a guest star in popular television series such as ‘Wonder Woman,’ ‘The Love Boat,’ ‘Fantasy Island,’ and ‘Superboy.’

However, his talent extended beyond acting. Ron Ely also ventured into writing, publishing two mystery novels: ‘Night Shadows’ in 1994 and ‘East Beach’ in 1995.

These works showcase his versatility and creativity, expanding his legacy beyond the screen, according to The Associated Press.

Despite the success that accompanied him throughout his life, Ely faced a devastating family tragedy in 2019.

That year, his son Cameron, who was reportedly in the early stages of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), killed his mother, the actor’s wife, in a stabbing attack.

This tragic incident deeply affected Ely’s life, as his son was shot by Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies shortly after the murder.

The terrible event marked a turning point in Ely’s life, and he withdrew from the public eye following the family tragedy.
