Just this past April, TIME magazine chose the 100 most influential people, and among them are seven Latinos.

This exclusive list includes actresses Salma Hayek (Mexico) and Zoe Saldaña, who was born in the United States but has Dominican roots.

Also on the list are Chilean actor Pedro Pascal, Argentine footballer Lionel Messi, and Mexican activist María Herrera Magdaleno, among others.

Salma Hayek Has Always Been Herself

Among the Latino leaders of 2023 is Mexican actress and producer Salma Hayek, born in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz.

The star of the telenovela «Teresa» and the movie «El callejón de los milagros» began her Hollywood career at the age of 25.

It didn’t take long for her to shine in films like «Desperado,» «From Dusk Till Dawn,» and «Wild Wild West.»

Among the Latino leaders of 2023 chosen by TIME magazine is Mexican activist María Herrera Magdaleno.

A defender of human rights, ‘Doña Mary’ founded a national network of local collectives in 2014 to educate families on how to investigate disappearances.

At 73 years old, María sued the Mexican state before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights last November for not investigating cases.

Journalist Ciara Nugent acknowledged María Herrera Magdaleno’s work and leadership and encouraged her to continue.

From Colombia to the World
