Not even Ellen could escape the many cancellations and upcoming changes to the HBO Max streaming platform. The presenter’s animated series Little Ellen was canceled before the premiere of its third season, according to Deadline.

Ellen DeGeneres’ HBO Max show cancelled?

The show features a seven-year-old girl named Ellen, voiced by Laurel Emory. Producers have completed season three of the series, which was set to premier in June. Now the show is on hold indefinitely, with the final notice coming in August.

Little Ellen was picked up in 2019 and show’s first 10 episodes were released in September 2021. Season two was released in March 2022. The voice cast included Johanna Colon as Ellen’s cousin Becky and JeCobi Swain as Ella’s friend Freckle and Oscar nominee June Squibb did the voice of Ellen’s grandmother.

HBO Max initially planned several projects with DeGeneres

In September 2019, DeGeneres and HBO Max announced that she would be producing shows for the streaming service. The first show announced was Little Ellen, based on DeGeneres’ childhood.

The next show was expected to be Ellen’s Home Design Challenge. It was a reality show where people competed to design DeGeneres’ house. The program was broadcast in April and May 2021 exclusively for the platform, according to FanFest.

Ellen was involved in the productions

Ellen’s next project was First Dates Hotel. It was a reality show where people had dates in a hotel. This show never aired because it was too similar to a UK show called First Dates that already existed.
