According to the investigation by the Division of Major Assaults of the HPD detectives, on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 3:45 in the afternoon, Douglas Alberto Iglesias went to his ex-girlfriend’s house at the Park at Bellaire Apartments located at 6333 Chimney Rock Road, in the Hispanic neighborhood of Gulfton.

The investigation didn’t explain why Douglas Alberto Iglesias went looking for his ex-girlfriend. The documents also don’t detail how long Iglesias dated the young woman. The woman’s name will not be included in this story to protect her privacy.

However, when Douglas Alberto Iglesias arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, he met 26-year-old Antonio Óscar Elizondo who identified himself as the girl’s new boyfriend. That sparked a conflict between the two men who got into a fight.

At one point during the fight, Douglas Alberto Iglesias took out a gun from his pocket and fired several shots. One of the bullets wounded Antonio Óscar Elizondo in the head. The assailant escaped from the crime scene after shooting Elizondo.

The HPD investigation does not detail who called the police to report that Antonio Óscar Elizondo was seriously wounded after being shot in the head. HPD patrolmen and paramedics from the Houston Fire Department (HPD) arrived at the scene.

HPD paramedics transported Antonio Óscar Elizondo to an area hospital where doctors managed to save his life after he had been shot in the head. Detectives from the HPD Major Assault Division were dispatched to the scene of the crime.

When detectives from the HPD Major Assaults Division were at the crime scene, something happened that facilitated the suspect’s arrest. Douglas Alberto Iglesias himself returned to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment complex and witnesses alerted the authorities.

The officers went after Douglas Alberto Iglesias as soon as witnesses identified him. When the HPD detectives and officers checked the man, they found the gun he allegedly used to shoot Antonio Óscar Elizondo.

The officer made a routine stop and upon searching the young man’s vehicle, with his consent, he found an unregistered weapon. Iglesias faced charges but the judge who handled the case dismissed them. The other arrest was for driving under the influence of alcohol.
