A sad news morning for professional football. It has been reported that Diego Armando Maradona’s youngest brother, Hugo, has died. The cause of his death has shocked the family that lost the world famous ‘El Pelusa’ only a year ago, according to El Imparcial.

The footballer died at his home in Monte de Procida, in the province of Naples (southern Italy). He was still a prominent figure there so his death was very painful for the community. He was 52 years old and the youngest in the family. He died at home at dawn.

After seeing that he was unwell, people that were home with him called Pozzuoli emergency services. They arrived in a matter of minutes and provided medical attention to the family member of the former soccer star. However, he no longer had vital signs by the time rescuers arrived. Therefore, it was not necessary to transport him to a hospital.

The coroner was called to certify the death of the youngest member of the dynasty. The family took care of all the necessary paperwork. This loss has added to that suffered by the family on November 25 when ‘El Pelusa’ left this world leaving great pain and sadness, but above all a great controversy.

Hugo was the youngest member of the family dynasty, along with Diego Armando and Lalo. He also played soccer. He signed with Naples at a very young age but his career did not stand out like his brother’s. Hugo began his training at Argentinos Junior and since then he has appeared with other teams and in other countries.

The footballer played for the Spanish Rayo Vallecano, the Avispa Fukuoka, the Venezuelan Deportivo Italia and the Austrian Rapid Vienna, among other Japanese clubs. Hugo was called ‘El Turquito’ and although he was never an Italian citizen, he did reside there after he married in the region. He was beloved by the people and enjoyed a lot of fame in the countries where he played. Naples paid tribute to Exastro on the one year anniversary of his death. They named a stadium after him and placed a statue in front of it.
