  • DEA thwarts Mexican drug gang in Georgia.
  • They used several houses to move their garbage freely.
  • Gwinnett County was its base of operations for the entire state.

The American Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), the most feared among drug traffickers on the planet, has just scored a tremendous point in its favor after having disrupted a clandestine laboratory where members of a Mexican mafia manufactured methamphetamine, one of the most dangerous drugs in the world.

According to official reports, the laboratory operated inside a modest house in Gwinnett County, the town in Georgia where many Latinos live and work. Taking them by surprise, federal authorities seized around 800 pounds of the drug, as well as large quantities of the material they use to process it.

The special agent of the DEA in Atlanta, Robert Murphy, declared to the press that all those illegal products that were confiscated were brought by land from Mexico and introduced into the country through one of its blind spots. Therefore, they are convinced that they belong to a Mexican cartel, whose name they chose not to reveal.

They also did not make public the identities of the ten subjects they captured on the property. They did say that they are all from Mexico. The modus operandi of this gang was very similar to that of others that have been previously dismantled. Criminals camouflage themselves in quiet neighborhoods and appear to be normal neighbors. The Atlanta metro area is key

In general, they choose counties and cities in the Atlanta metropolitan area to rent the houses. They have so much money that they don’t care about how much they pay and even do it in cash. They choose to settle in places like Gwinnett, Cobb, DeKalb and Clayton, among others, due to their proximity to interstate highways.

This allows them to move their illegal merchandise and the money from the profits in a faster and more effective way. The situation in that environment is so serious today that the DEA special agent told the local news station WSBTV a few days ago exclusively that, this is the worst he’s seen in his 25 year career. «It will not happen in my neighborhood»

According to Murphy, many people mistakenly believe that having a drug house nearby is something that is never going to happen to them. What they don’t know is that not even the private subdivisions have been spared from this scourge. In short, you could have them next door and not even realize it.

“They are manufacturing and selling their poison, but they present themselves as good neighbors. They are friendly and never look for trouble with anyone. They really are bad people, but they’re not out there with fancy cars and making a fuss. Keeping a low profile is the deal they have with their cartel,” the official stated.
