Incredible as it may seem, it happened in Atlanta, Georgia. An enraged customer shot and killed an employee of a Subway located in downtown Atlanta and injured another, allegedly because they put too much mayonnaise on his sandwich, according to local media reports on Monday, June 27.

Fox 5 reported that police said the shooting occurred around 6:30 p.m. at a Subway located at a gas station on Northside Drive Southwest in Atlanta. The owner said that the reason for the shooting was something insignificant: A customer was angry about the amount of mayonnaise on his sub.

Enraged customer kills Subway employee

“Believe it or not, it was just that he had too much mayonnaise on his sandwich,” owner Willie Glenn said, referring to the customer who killed his employee on Sunday. During the argument, police said the customer pulled out a gun and shot at two employees, killing one and sending the other to the hospital.

«He decided to escalate the situation and that’s when all hell broke loose,» said Willie Glenn, adding that one of the employees’ small child was inside the store when the shooting broke out. “One of the young women who was killed today… her son was in the store. She had a young son who had to witness all of this,” he lamented.

Shot over too much mayo

Willie Glenn added that the manager on duty fired back at the suspect, but didn’t hit him. “I don’t know what the world is coming to especially with our youth. They seem to be so hot headed. Everybody wants to carry a gun. Everybody wants to scare somebody wit ha gun. It’s scary out here.»

Police tape surrounded the Subway where the customer killed the employee while the police carried out their investigation and collected clues. The shots also shattered a window at the front of the store, Fox 5 said.

Authorities ask the community for help

As of Monday morning, authorities had not released the names of the victims as they tried to notify their families about the tragedy that occurred at the popular fast-food joint. The two employees had only started working at the restaurant three or four weeks ago, according to Newsweek and Mirror.
