CDC Issues E. coli outbreak warning

WARNING! The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently reported a dangerous infectious outbreak of the dreaded E. coli bacteria in some parts of the country. They also announced how many people have been hospitalized as a result.

In a bulletin, the CDC announced that measures should be taken to avoid infection. Health experts have explained the symptoms of the disease and how it can be identified more precisely to prevent it from becoming deadly to those who become sick.

A new bulletin from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warns that Ohio and Michigan have been affected by an outbreak of E. coli, causing concern in health experts. In the report, it was announced that «dozens of people» been hospitalized as a result.

“So far, illnesses have only been reported in Michigan and Ohio. To avoid getting sick from E. coli, follow these four steps when handling or preparing food: clean, separate, cook, and chill,” the CDC reported. At the moment, experts are still working on investigating how the infection is spreading.

The information provided by the CDC noted that «a food has not yet been identified as the source of this fast-moving outbreak,» but that they will continue to work to investigate and control the source that caused dozens of people to go to hospitals in Michigan and Ohio.

So far, it is known that at least 29 people have been infected with this bacteria and only nine people have been hospitalized in those two. The good news is that there are no registered deaths. The authorities are monitoring and investigating what caused the disease and the progress of the patients who are hospitalized.

The brief points out that some of the cases that have been reported in Michigan and Ohio have not been registered in the Pulse Net system – a network managed by the CDC — and it is still unknown what food caused it.

«Some of the illnesses reported in Michigan and Ohio have not yet been reported to the Pulse Net system, but researchers are working quickly to add them to the Pulse Net to determine if they may be part of this outbreak,» the CDC stated.

The bulletin explains what people who have been affected by this E. coli outbreak should do and how to document their illness. They are asked to»write down the food you ate a week before you got sick» and that information must be sent their local health department.

Also, they released some simple measures to avoid the disease. Among these measures, they announced that people must «wash their hands, utensils and surfaces frequently» and rinse food before using it. the CDC is keeping an eye on new information as it comes in. Filed Under: CDC E Coli Warning
