Has apple patented a curved glass iMac?  Many internet users were surprised when Apple applied for a design patent proposing an all-in-one iMac in which the keyboard and the screen would be integrated into a single curved piece of glass, according to El Universal.

The patent shows an elegant design with a futuristic aesthetic, made almost entirely of glass and incorporating almost all of the elements in a single unit. Although there are some similarities with the current design, for example the curvilinear joint between the screen or the generally minimalist and elegant approach, this new computer is presented as a completely reimagined product.

The device will be made from a single piece of glass that is curved at the bottom. The glass forms the main support structure that also contains the screen and keyboard. A really striking aspect is that the glass can be bent to adjust the angle of the screen.

This can also come in handy when you want to take your iMac with you, as you can fold the bottom all the way down, making the computer be more comfortable to transport. Instead of glass, it could also be made from ceramic or plastic, as long as the material is transparent, as the patent description states (Filed As: Apple Patents Curved Glass iMac?)

Although the registration of this patent by Apple has drawn a lot of attention due to its new design, it may not ever become a reality. This is because Apple is known to patent all sorts of things and most never make it to market.

Internet users and fans of the company have given some reasons why the curved glass iMac may never happen. For example, some have pointed out that you would have to type with your hands outstretched in order to reach the keyboard that is about 80cm away from you, otherwise the screen would be literally in front of you.
