According to The Sun the 61-year-old actress was pulled from the San Lorenzo River by New York State Police as well as members of other emergency teams in Cape Vincent. Rest in peace Mary Mary.

According to police reports, Mary Mara is believed to have drowned while swimming but the investigation is still ongoing. The actress’s body was taken to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The bad news began to circulate immediately.

Born on September 21, 1960, in Syracuse, New York, the actress was living in Cape Vincent at the time of her death. She graduated from Corcoran High School before attending San Francisco State University and Yale. She received many farewell messages on social media.

According to TMZ, police received a call around eight in the morning about a possible drowning in the Lawrence River. Upon arrival, a body was found in the water and it was learned that it was the actress Mary Mara, who was visiting her sister and went swimming for exercise.

A family spokesman said the actress was staying at the summer home of her sister, Martha Mara, of Syracuse, New York. The property faces the river on the outskirts of the village of Cape Vincent, in the Thousand Islands region, where the St. Lawrence River separates Canada from the United States, Deadline reported.

The actress, who would have turned 62 in September, is survived by her stepdaughter, Katie Mersola; her sister, Martha Mara, of Syracuse; another sister and brother-in-law, Susan Mara and Scott Dailey, of Kent, Washington; and a nephew, Christopher Dailey, of Sammamish, Washington.
