A new recall was ordered in the United States after pieces of plastic were found in dozens of baked desserts. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published the official notice of the recall on its website.

Although it is common for microplastics to be present in many foods and beverages, they are often imperceptible and it is inevitable to ingest a certain amount of them. However, when consumers find large and visible pieces of plastic, a recall of the contaminated products is ordered and that is what what happened with Enjoy Life Natural Brands.

Enjoy Life desserts are recalled

Several types of Enjoy Life brand baked goods and cookies may contain hard plastic parts that could harm consumers. As a result, the company is recalling 13 different products from the market, BGR reported.

“Enjoy Life Natural Brands LLC announced a voluntary, precautionary recall of a limited quantity of a select list of baked snack products due to the possible presence of hard plastic parts. The company became aware of this issue as a result of its internal quality control review,» the FDA said.

According to the FDA, the affected products were sold in retail stores across the country and online in both the US and Canada, and the agency stated that no other Enjoy Life Foods products were affected by this voluntary recall.
